A portable garden. The Grow Pail is a plant container with a built-in water reservoir. The foundation of the system is a five gallon bucket. It is inexpensive and simple to make, durable and requires minimum maintenance. Commercial systems available at the big box stores cost $30 to $60 and weigh 120 pounds. A grow pail with soil and water weighs in at 40 pounds. Great for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Market Gardener David Strawderman will be presenting the workshop on Saturday April 19 from 10 to 12. All materials required to fabricate your own system will be provided along with a step by step instruction sheet. The workshop with cover container gardening, a history of the Grow Pail and hands-on construction of your own Grow Pail. There will be ample time for questions and hopefully answers. Suncoast Co-op is hosting the event. The fee for Master Gardeners and Suncoast Co-op members is $15.00 (50% off the general attendance price). The event will be held at the West Pasco Habitat for Humanity, 4131 Madison St., New Port Richey. Sign up on https://www.eventbrite.com/ or pay at the event.

Our Story

The Suncoast Co-op was formed from 5 fellow gardeners with a desire to sell what they were growing out of their own backyards for the general public. These gardeners had worked together with various community garden campaigns and education for Permaculture in the past and wanted to form a service for the community to provide fresh, local and chemical free food.
Our vision is to re-create our local food economies by giving meaningful work for small farmers to pool together our labor, capital, and resources to create a business we all own and benefit from the profits for distribution and marketing of our goods to our customers who also support us. We hope to create a rich valuable marketplace that provides nutritious diverse food for our community.

Suncoast Co-op serves the West Pasco and North Pinellas County areas via an online marketplace your place to find local food grown by local gardeners and other cottage industry made goods.
