Organizing local council
  • Each city has a organizing local council for their own cities that are represented by the people, organizations, groups already established in the cities. New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, East Lake etc. These councils are independent and self organize themselves and their own events. We are laying out a strategic plan and avenues for support and coordinated growth of the local food movement. Make partnerships within the local cities for the growth of local food movement. Making partnerships across city, county lines to encourage a passion of all of our’s for local food and the growth of a local food economy.
  • We as a co-op market can help facilitate the organizing of local councils and interconnect them all on our online market at Suncoast Co-op, market with our facebook fan page and social media. Work towards cooperation for more local food and better access to all demographics for fresh, chemical free, local food. Work to bring the Tampa Bay Time banks to our communities and coordinate marketing of local food to encourage victory gardens and more producers/purchasers of local food.
  • Offer a community owned business anyone can become a member/owner of and help lead. Partner with other local organizations, the community, and work towards encouraging a local food movement.
  • Tampa Bay Time Bank ( www.tampabaytime.org ) : Marie gave a short presentation about the Tampa bay Time bank and re-iterated the value of non-paid workers and how we can value their time, share in the yield, and encourage participation and cooperation voluntarily all throughout the Tampa bay area.
  • Online social network: Our youtube where we will be video recording local growers and information about the co-op: www.youtube.com/suncoastcoop Using Meet-up we can have a listserv and host meet-ups: http://www.meetup.com/Suncoast-Co-op/ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/264378686981983/ Facebook Fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/SuncoastCoop
  • Next Meeting will be at Denise’s home: 470 E. Cypress St., Tarpon Springs Nov. 12th at 6pm. Should we pot-luck light appetizers?
  • Open to Feedback: These notes were taken in a hurry and from my perspective I would love to hear input and edits. We can work on to encourage the growth of local food movement in North Pinellas and beyond. Lets envision together the creation of an Organic pipeline of chemical free, local food all the way from Hernando to Clearwater and surrounding areas.
