Membership is Ownership

For $25 a year you can become a member as well as part owner of the Suncoast Co-op. We are a worker owned cooperative and will give special perks for our member/owners. Patronize from the market and reap the rewards years to come with a vibrant local food economy.

  • Receive 10% discount with no market surcharge.
  • Half off on any upcoming workshops or events our co-op may host.
  • Preferred Patron- If there are 5 apples on the market and 6 are sold, members get preference first on their order being fulfilled.
  • You own the business Democratic election of board of directors. Each member gets one vote.
  • Hiring Opportunity- we are worker owned cooperative we only hire from within. “With us, for us, we hire ourselves”

Initiating the 10% patron fee
Starting in November we have begun adding on a 10% patron fee for all patrons using the market. We want anyone to be-able to use our online local market to order local food. If you become a part member/owner of the co-operative your 10% patron fee will get waived. This fee will be used to grow and expand our market as well as more market customer pick-up locations. We want everyone to buy into the co-op enabling us the resources to provide you with the most fresh, local, and healthy food possible on the market. You will notice this market surcharge fee when you place your order. If you are a Suncoast Co-op member your fee will be deducted at pick-up so disregard the fee on your bill and look at your total sales for you cost.

We are now accepting all major credit cards for a 3.0% additional convenience fee we will use credit cards for your orders.

Eat 10% Local
We are launching a campaign advertising our co-op and for local citizens to start shifting their food budget 10% local. We hope to encourage a food Renaissance and share this vision to people of the Suncoast area becoming an edible cornucopia. We hope to engage and educate people into the local food movement via movies, book studies, and Permablitzes social activities to enhance the development of the movement.

Looking for Volunteers and Board of Directors
We are always looking for new help in growing the cooperative. Becoming a board of director is taking on a leadership position and requires membership/ownership, while volunteering is for short term opportunities to assist the co-op and requires no membership. North Pinellas Local Food Movement
Monday Nov. 12th 6:00pm

Join us for a get together to discuss the North Pinellas Local food movement meeting. Our agenda is to review our notes from the last meeting, establish a regular book club study, a calendar for local food documentaries to be shown, and start initiating permablitzes on land to establish edible landscapes for our members.

Victory Vegetable Gardening

West Pasco Habitat for Humanity ReStore

This 3 hour workshop takes you both inside and outside into the Habitat for Humanity’s Kinship garden. $30 for the workshop; $15 for Suncoast Co-op members. If you are financially unable to pay for the classes contact us for volunteer time bank hours you can trade volunteering in Kinship Garden for workshop. During the workshop you will learn how plants work, how to create thriving soils out of Florida sand, Pest identification, different styles of gardening, as well as planting schedule for Florida gardeners. Come to the class and receive free edible plants! Proceeds of the workshop will benefit both Habitat for Humanity’s mission and the Suncoast Co-op’s goals as well of making an edible New Port Richey.

Introduction to Permaculture
November 24th 11am-2pm

This 3 hour workshop gives you an in depth introduction to permaculture. $30 for workshop; $15 for Suncoast co-op members If you are financially unable to pay for the classes contact us for volunteer time bank hours you can trade volunteering in Kinship Garden for workshop. This introductory course to Permaculture will give you the design tools to start designing your home to be more conscious for creating a sustainable human habitats. Learn how to connect different pieces of the puzzle with your garden to
increase fertility. Learn about the founders of permaculture, permaculture concepts from around the world, and how you can design your own permaculture homestead. Learn a step by step process of growing your very own food forest here in Florida! Come to the class and receive free edible plants! Proceeds of the workshop will benefit both Habitat for Humanity’s mission and the Suncoast Co-op’s goals as well of making an edible New Port Richey.

Holiday Boat Parade Fundraiser

Come join the Suncoast Co-op at Barbara’s house along the river in Downtown New Port Richey for watching the New Port Richey boat parade. We will have short discussions about growing food locally, Permaculture, and the worker owned cooperative. Join us for a silent auction as well as raffle drawings for gifts from businesses in the community. This event is a pot-luck and BYOB, bring your own plates, utensils, and tables/chairs if you have them. A great family event to learn about local food and how we can all work cooperatively towards the growth of a local food economy making New Port Richey an edible city.
